We ran out of bin space and began bagging the grain. These bags come from Argentina and are especially made for grain storage. For those of you that like numbers - ours measure 9 feet in diameter and are 250 feet long with a 10,000 bushel capacity.

Saskatchewan had some great harvest weather this year. We had almost six weeks of mild, sunny, windy days. I'm sure it was the longest stretch of good weather we've had this year. We experienced very few breakdowns and the quality and quantity of the harvest was pretty good - all things considered.
We are truly thankful for that !
Sept. straight cutting wheat precision operating required for "catching on the go" saves lots of time as the machinery doesn't stop while the grain is unloading |
Next post will be back to regular programing and clay related !

Have to come up to Saskatchewan some time to see the harvest. I love that kind of thing and those wide open spaces.
Well Holis, we've got plenty of those wide open spaces. Even adults have been know to mutter " are we there yet ?"
Let me know when you are coming, I'll throw out the welcome mat !
Colleen..how wonderful to be finished just before the snow..lovely here again, too, but that first SNAP gets us paying attention again.:).
Great to see the harvest pictures - showed them to my Mom the other day - farm child that she was, she enjoyed them..
Cheers, T.
Hello fellow farmer/potter! :)
I love harvest... we had 4 straight weeks of *perfect* weather. That's great, but dang, I NEEDED a break. Luckily we finally got a rain day and I slept nearly the entire day. Now that it's all over, back to pottery! :)
Trish, your Mom probably noticed a few changes with the equipment ! The header on this combine is a monster every time we move fields there's no problem getting people to pull over when they see us coming !
Becky Jo, I hear ya on the "needing a break" , a girl almost feels guilty prayin for rain during harvest ! But jeeze, day after day of long nights and early mornings !
Glad to hear your weather was good for harvest too. There's so much riding on the weather and absolutely nothing one can do about it .
